Information Services branch (ISB) is responsible for development of ICT strategy, information management and ICT service delivery in Brisbane City Council. This supports Council’s business objectives, improves business functions and ultimately delivers benefits to the community.

We currently have a requirement for a Technical Consultant to join Council’s Network Services team. This is an interesting and challenging role for a technical specialist with proven skills and experience supporting data network infrastructure and services within a large and complex enterprise environment.

As the Technical Consultant you will:

• manage, maintain and troubleshoot Council’s data network infrastructure and associated services
• proactively monitor the performance of the network to ensure high availability and redundancy
• troubleshoot network performance issues
• undertake routine and ad-hoc software patching of network infrastructure
• respond to allocated incidents, work orders and escalations, ensuring that these are resolved within SLA with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
• work collaboratively with vendors and staff
• provide 24 x 7 on-call support on a roster basis
• develop and maintain the relationship between external and internal stakeholders to ensure operational and technical alignment and provide continuous service improvement
• maintain accurate documentation and contribute towards knowledge base and operational procedural improvements.

What you will bring to this role:

• CCNA/CCNP level routing and switching certification or demonstrated equivalent experience in the configuration, troubleshooting and fault analysis of network infrastructure and services
• proven experience and proficiency in configuring, installing and managing Cisco routers, switches and wireless access points within a large enterprise environment
• demonstrated experience in troubleshooting layer 2/3 routing/switching issues
• experience performing software vulnerability management activities
• demonstrated experience in the analysis and investigation of network utilisation and performance issues including proactive trend analysis
• proven problem solving, research and analytical skills
• demonstrated ability to establish and grow collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
• proven ability to prioritise and manage tasks to meet deadlines.
