  • Critical position in delivering multiple cliff face assessments with an increasing number of rock core analysis.
  • Green Bridges project - undertake logging and strength testing of rock core.

The Planning and Design's team have over 200 professionals who have extensive experience and a demonstrated record of excellence in the design and documentation of civil and civic infrastructure projects. As a consultancy branch within City Projects Office, the team is committed to delivering design and planning outcomes that balance environmental considerations with community-friendly infrastructure.

Planning and Design have worked with a range of Council program areas to contribute to several significant Council projects, including Road programs, Bikeway programs, suburban library refurbishments, landfill remediation and sports field development, and flood damage assessment and redesign.

The Senior Engineering Geologist is responsible for providing technical engineering geology advice to engineering staff together with the provision of detailed engineering rock core logs to be included within the engineering reports.

To be successful you will have:

  • a bachelor’s degree in Geology;
  • ability to collect, analyse and interpret data such as geological and grading plans;
  • ability to undertake detailed geological mapping including experience with rock mass quality assessment and kinematic analysis;
  • ability to undertake drilling rig supervision
  • ability to conduct rock slope inspections at height using elevated work platforms and rope access;
  • experience with software modelling programs (SlopeW, Rocsience, Gwall, etc);
  • well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders across technical /non- technical subjects;
  • ability to produce and present detailed and accurate reports;
  • ability to prepare and review tender documentation for construction and remediation works on rock slopes/cuttings projects; and
  • experience with providing technical on-the-job training and guidance to less experienced staff.
