About Us

Central Desert Regional Council is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. The Council provides a range of services in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. There are also several homelands and outstations. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population is Aboriginal.

The Role

This position is responsible for supporting the Council Services Coordinator in the management of the Community by providing clerical, administrative, operation support and to liaise with visitors to the community.

Keys to your success

  • Provide a level of administrative support to the management team of the CDRC Remote Council Services including work processing and the preparation of documents and reports.
  • Provide general reception duties including attending to front counter enquiries
  • Assist with the provision of contract services provided by CDRC eg: Centrelink and Australia Post
  • Coordinate meetings, including the compilation of papers and catering requirements
  • Maintaining and ordering of office supplieds, tracking of complaints and attending meetings where rquired
  • Arrange and process official duty requirements on behalf of CDRC staff members
  • Participate in relevant professional developments and training when required
  • Undertake the use of Northern Territory local government computer systems including Magiq and Microsoft applications
