How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
The Legal branch at City of Melbourne, works to meet the various needs of the Council in respect of local government legislative requirements and processes to assist the Council to achieve its corporate goals.
Your role as Legal Counsel, will be to provide high quality and strategic legal and related advice and support to the Council and its functions. You will provide legal services in relation to all aspects of the powers, duties and functions of the Council and to all members of the Council. You will be committed to the overarching obligations as an officer of the Court and to the integrity of the law and its conduct, which are fundamental and will not be compromised. In addition you will act consistently with the Model Litigant Guidelines.
Our ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and comfortable managing multiple matters at any one time. Providing expert advice to manage and minimise risk (both financial and reputational) in relation to decisions and implementation of Council’s strategies will be fundamental to your success.
