About the Opportunity

The Centre Director - Family Day Care is responsible for ensuring the quality care and well-being of children enrolled in the Family Day Care Scheme by undertaking day-to-day operations of the service.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree/Diploma in Early Education and Care or equivalent (ACEQA recognised qualifications)
  • Provisions or Proficient Teacher Accreditation with NSW Educations Standards Authority (NESA) if applicable
  • First Aid Certificate and Child Protection training
  • Valid Working with Children Check number
  • Current class C driver's licence
  • Approval as Nominated Supervisor (applied for after appointment to the position)
  • A solid understanding of relevant Child Protection, Work Health and Safety (WHS), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and National Quality Framework (NQF) legislations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders
  • Proven skills and experience in fiscal management, education and care and the delivery of effective customer service
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities including effective time management and organisational skills
  • A solid understanding of relevant trends and legislation in the education and care sector
  • Proven skills and ability as a leader of a professional team, positive communication is paramount along with proven skills and ability in staff management and development
  • Proficient knowledge and considerable understanding of computerised finance and education and care operating systems
  • Ability to provide support, assistance, timely and systematic advice on all aspects of operational requirements and policy direction
  • To be able to take personal responsibility for behaving in accordance with the organisations’ values and directions
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of relevant frameworks relating to the service type.

Salary: Employment is in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,523.23 to $1,751.72 per week, plus superannuation.

The commencement salary will depend upon the successful applicant's qualifications, experience and competencies.

Conditions of Employment: This is a term contract, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement.

The position will be located at Council's Family Day Care office and will be required to undertake regular travel amongst various sites and locations throughout the Cumberland LGA. In addition, the successful applicant may be required to work across any one of Council's 17 education and care centres across the Cumberland LGA. Attendance at training, education events and staff meetings outside of normal work hours will also be required.
