ABOUT THIS POSITION

Australia’s southernmost municipal area, the Huon Valley Council, is seeking a proactive and self-motivated leader for the position of Director Infrastructure Services. Working in one of Australia’s most beautiful locations, only 30 minutes from Hobart, and reporting to the General Manager, you will enjoy a high level of decision-making authority and provide advice regarding infrastructure service delivery and effective business unit outcomes.

To be successful in this position you will require relevant tertiary qualifications and/or comparable experience in a similar role, the ability to develop strategies and drive business outcomes and a team-focused management approach, with a strong adherence to WHS.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or comparable experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated high level strategic, conceptual and analytical skills
  • Ability to advance policy and programming development in the context of local, regional, state and national priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing human resources.
  • High-level communication and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multiplicity of operations, functions and projects whilst achieving corporate objectives.
  • Demonstrated financial and asset management skills.
    Strategic, project management and operational planning skills.

Desirable:

  • Thorough understanding of the Tasmanian Local Government and State Government Frameworks.
  • Specialist knowledge and skills in the following:
    • Transportation Services;
    • Stormwater;
    • Design, Depot, Plant and Fleet;
    • Construction and Project Management
