During the summer, monsoon rains replenish the waterways and attract a multitude of birds, while in the winter, fishing enthusiasts from around the world descend on Karumba for some of the best wild caught barramundi in Australia.

Karumba State School is a small school situated on the Gulf Of Carpentaria that caters for the educational needs of 18 primary students. The school is passionate about creating the best possible educational opportunities for the students, which is seen in the classrooms and the way they go about each day.
