Situated on the mouth of the Norman River, Karumba is well known as a recreational fishing mecca and birdwatchers paradise. This is truly where the savannah outback meets the sea! During the summer, monsoon rains replenish the waterways and attract a multitude of birds, while in the winter, fishing enthusiasts from around the world descend on Karumba for some of the best wild caught barramundi in Australia.
Karumba State School is a small school situated on the Gulf Of Carpentaria that caters for the educational needs of 18 primary students.
