About the programs

The Department of Education is committed to developing and implementing a statewide continuum of educational delivery to ensure that students with chronic health or complex mental health conditions receive specialised and appropriate educational support at all stages of their illness.

This educational delivery can occur in hospital paediatric wards, adolescent mental health inpatient units, adolescent day programs and other facilities. Logan has three hospital education programs. Two of these programs are already established - an adolescent mental health inpatient unit and a paediatric ward in Logan Hospital. The third program - an adolescent mental health day program located in the Logan Central community - is expected to open in Semester 2, 2021.

Teaching staff across the three programs work as a team, supported by supervision from both Queensland Children's Hospital School and Marsden State High School. While initial appointment may be to a particular program, staff may be expected to work across any of the three programs to meet staffing and operational requirements.

Available positions Teachers in hospital education programs provide targeted learning so that students can continue to flourish in their educational progress as well as have a seamless transition back to their base schools.

Teachers work with students, families, medical teams and base schools to ensure that students' individual needs are identified, and education programs reflect these needs.
