As an experienced Senior Strategic Planner within the Policy & Strategy Team, you will take a leading role in shaping the future of the City of Whittlesea.  Your role will lead the development of new planning policies, strategies and planning scheme amendments of strategic importance to Council, as well as responding to State Government initiatives.

The role offers an exciting and diverse range of projects across a broad spectrum of planning contexts including established areas, developing areas and green wedges. It represents a great opportunity for a well-rounded, experienced strategic planning specialist to expand their skill set and make their mark.

About you
You are a versatile and experienced strategic planner, and ideally will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in strategic land use planning and policy development
• Proven successful track record of undertaking and managing multi-disciplinary planning projects from inception to implementation, including managing and developing strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience working within Local Government processes and an ability to develop planning policy and integrate Planning Scheme implementation requirements with Council-wide strategy, planning and policy development initiatives
• Highly developed report writing, policy development, analysis and the capacity to present and explain complex planning policy and concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders
• Effective interpersonal skills which incorporate a positive demeanour, a ‘can do” attitude, quality customer focus and contribute to team objectives and values
