KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Evidence of considerable skills and knowledge as a practitioner and experience in working with students with intellectual disabilities.
2. Proven capacity to work as a member of a team, establishing positive relationships with colleagues, students and their families
3. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive reports and submissions to a high standard of competence.
4. Highly developed organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to utilize effective time management strategies, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to ongoing personal professional development

Role
The Speech Pathologist will be directly responsible to the Principal Class for the day-to-day provision of speech pathology services that accord with the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• to work with the Principal Class to maintain a high standard of therapy services
• to work cooperatively within transdisciplinary teams developing Individual Educational Plans and reports for students.
• to work within transdisciplinary teams to develop, implement and evaluate class based programs that incorporate therapeutic interventions and support student learning
• to attend and contribute to Student Support Group meetings
• to prioritise and cater for communication needs of individual students including assessment, design, production and programming of AAC devices/systems
• to provide comprehensive speech therapy assessments.
• to liaise with and provide support to community agencies and other professionals in relation to the communication needs of individual students
• to maintain personal professional development and provide professional development for school staff
• to attend a range of meetings e.g. staff, departmental, team
