The School Curriculum and Standards Division is seeking a dynamic, secondary teacher of Mathematics with skills and experience in teaching Mathematics in Years 7 to 10. The successful applicant will have an enthusiasm for working as part of a self-motivated team and who can conceptualise and complete curriculum projects.
The Division provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate within the Division provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
The Curriculum Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate is seeking to appoint a Principal Consultant – Secondary Curriculum and Assessment, with a strong background in curriculum and assessment design across the lower secondary years of schooling.
The position reports to the Manager, Curriculum and Assessment and, amongst others, the following duties will be undertaken:
develop and review curriculum and assessment support materials for Years 7 to 10 Mathematics
monitor, review and report on the implementation of curriculum initiatives, standards, projects and programs
develop, implement and review moderation processes for the secondary years of schooling
provide verbal and written curriculum support to schools
draft high level advice, correspondence and briefings for the Minister, the Board, the Executive Director, school systems/sector and others as required
organise, facilitate and conduct seminars, school visits and information sessions for staff from schools, regions, professional associations and school systems/sector as required.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
